Terms of Reference: Digital Communications Coordinator (Remote - Latin America) - Fundacion Multitudes

Fundación Multitudes is an NGO dedicated to promoting social inclusion and equitable access to resources for marginalized communities in Latin America. We strive to build stronger, more inclusive communities through education, advocacy, and community development. Effective communication is crucial to raising awareness of our work, engaging our stakeholders, and amplifying the voices of the communities we serve.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Communications Coordinator are to:

  • Enhance Fundacion Multitudes' online presence and engagement, particularly within Latin America.
  • Increase awareness of Fundacion Multitudes' programs, impact, and advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and disseminate compelling content that resonates with our target audiences, including donors, beneficiaries, and partners.
  • Maintain and improve the Fundacion Multitudes website as a key communication tool.
  • Strengthen communication channels with stakeholders and build a strong online community.

Scope of Work

The Coordinator will develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication strategy, focusing on social media, newsletters, website content, and website management.

4.1 Social Media Management:

  • Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with Fundacion Multitudes' mission and communication goals, tailoring content for diverse platforms.
  • Create and curate engaging, culturally relevant content (text, images, videos) for various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and potentially regional platforms).
  • Analyze social media performance using platform analytics and provide regular reports on key metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, follower growth, sentiment analysis).

4.2 Newsletter Development and Management:

  • Develop and implement a newsletter strategy to engage subscribers and disseminate information about Fundacion Multitudes' activities and impact.
  • Create and curate compelling, informative, and visually appealing newsletter content, highlighting success stories and calls to action.
  • Design and distribute newsletters using email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), optimizing for mobile devices and accessibility.

4.3 Website Content Creation and Management:

  • Draft and edit high-quality, impactful content for the Fundacion Multitudes website, including blog posts, news articles, project updates, and impact reports.
  • Ensure website content is accurate, up-to-date, engaging, and optimized for search engines (SEO) in both Spanish and potentially other relevant languages.

4.4 Website Management (WordPress):

  • Maintain and update the Fundacion Multitudes website using WordPress, ensuring a user-friendly and visually appealing experience.
  • Ensure website functionality, performance, and security, implementing regular backups and updates.
  • Ensure that the website has proper SEO and is accessible to all users.

4.5 General Communications Support:

  • Assist in the development of communication materials, such as press releases, reports, presentations, and donor communications.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of communication campaigns, including fundraising and advocacy initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, international development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital communications, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms and developing engaging, culturally relevant content for diverse audiences in Latin America.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in Spanish (native proficiency required) and English (professional proficiency required).
  • Full proficiency in WordPress and website content management, including experience with themes and plugins.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience optimizing website content for search engines.

Position Details

  • Location: Remote position based in Latin America. Professionals from Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Colombia, Mexico and the Caribbean are encouraged to apply.
  • Contract Duration: 6-month consultancy, renewable based on performance.
  • Remuneration: Monthly compensation is USD 1,200-1,500, depending on experience and location.
  • Reporting: The Communications Coordinator will report directly to the Senior Advisor / Board Coordinator at Fundacion Multitudes.
